Instagram launched the Micro Shorts series in India: Encouraging Z Generations for Reinventing Innovation Posted on 09/03/2025 By plottips Meta officials announced that Instagram, the social media under the banner, would launch a series of micro-short dramas in India aimed at encouraging Z generation-wide innovation and building linkages through storytelling. The series is an extension of Instagram’s global “Anyway” branding campaign, which seeks to celebrate free expression of ideas. “Anyway” was launched in June, emphasizing that Instagram is a space where creative freedom flows, without hesitation or restraint. On the basis of this theme, the Indian-owned microtrip “Party of Two ” , a story of the lives of two generations of Z roommates with very different personality and creative approach. The story shows how Instagram is integrated into everyday culture and inspires young viewers to explore their interests and draw inspiration from everyday life. “On the 15th anniversary of Instagram, we are investing more in support of creative expression, including the introduction of new applications for video creators such as Edits and Trial and Reposts. We want to encourage them to explore their daily experiences and to take creative risks on Instagram, through the short, short and delicate features of Reels and by attracting Z-era dramas.” This move by Instagram is not only an extension of brand activity, but also an important part of its competition in the Indian market. Instagram has enhanced Reels’ recreational properties through micro-short dramas in the face of powerful rivals such as TikTok Shop and Kuku TV, while using Meta’s AI-recommended algorithms to enhance content exposure. Mobile recreational consumption for the Z generation (about 250 million people) in India is projected to reach $5 billion in 2025, with the potential of microtheater markets. Arun Srinivas revealed that the future will explore in-depth collaboration with local brands and creators in India, with plans to launch more language versions (e.g. Tamil and Bengali) in 2026 to further expand market coverage. Meta also plans to optimize user experience through data analysis, such as the introduction of recommendations for customized plays based on viewing habits. The launch of Instagram in India marked a transition from entertainment to social empowerment. Through the extension of the “Anyway” campaign, the platform not only celebrates the fifteenth anniversary, but also provides a bridge to the creative expression of Gen Z.
