Indonesia handles over 3.05 million harmful web messages a year, with 70 percent of online lottery content. Of these, online lottery content accounts for over 70 per cent, making it the most complex and priority issue facing the authorities. According to data published by Alexander Sabal, Director-General of the Indonesian Digital Space Regulatory Authority, in just one year, Indonesia dealt with a total of 305,3984 hazardous items, including 237,7283 lottery messages and 61,618 pornographic items (of which 8517 related to minors). The above data highlight the extent to which Indonesia is managing digital content in a rapidly developing web environment. Network games are difficult to eradicate because of the operating network of layers of subcontracting and complex intermediate financial flows. The Department has adopted a content management strategy that combines proactive prevention with rapid response: initiatives include a 24-hour network tour, a content audit compliance system and continuous coordination with the digital platform; and response mechanisms based on aduankonten.id and other government agencies. A two-pronged approach ensures continued repression of harmful content. Alexander Sabal stressed the need for the Government, the private sector, web platforms and the public to work together to build a safe and healthy cyberspace. The Department sees rapid and coordinated response to threats as a core solution to the evolving network environment in Indonesia. In the future, Indonesia ‘ s strategy to combat harmful content will continue to escalate. The Ministry plans to introduce advanced technology, such as artificial intelligence, for enhanced monitoring and enforcement, while strengthening public awareness and deepening collaboration with digital platforms to sustain resistance to adverse cyber content attacks. The clean-up exercise demonstrated Indonesia ‘ s commitment to the health of the network, especially in combating illegal online gaming and the blurring of harmful content at borders.
