GTA6 developer R Star studio bursting boiler room and is now back to normal. Posted on 01/20/2026 By plottips According to IGN, the Rockstar North studio returned to normal after an explosion in the morning. A spokesperson for R-Star stated: “On Monday morning, a heating boiler broke down in Rockstar North’s studio. Thanks are due to all those concerned and to the police and the fire brigade for their rapid presence to assess the situation. Please know that all personnel are well and that the studio is now operational.” Despite earlier references by emergency responders to “structural damage” to the building, a statement by the R-star indicated that the damage was minor. According to local media reports, the main developer of GTA 6 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Rockstar North, had a boiler room explosion at 5.02 a.m. local time (just after midnight US Eastern time), and the fire department had launched seven rescue vehicles to the scene. According to the Scottish Herald, relief personnel were evacuated at 9.21 a.m. after more than four hours of presence. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Corps spokesman confirmed: “On Monday, January 19, at 5.02 a.m., the police arrived at the St. Rude Road site in Edinburgh, three fire trucks and special rescue resources were dispatched by the dispatch centre, and the firefighters safely disposed of structural damage to commercial buildings. No casualties reported.” The Rockstar North Edinburgh Office has long served as the core of the R Star, where all the major games in the GTA and Wild Darts series have been developed. In the recent past, the building had provoked protests over the sudden dismissal of its staff by Rockstar, whose contention focused on whether lay-offs were related to staff participation in trade unions – an allegation that Rockstar had categorically denied. Although it is now believed that the Office remains closed today, it is too early to assess the impact of the incident on the two-time extension of the GTA 6 distribution plan. This much-anticipated game is now scheduled for sale on 19 November. Game News
